Active Communities Network

2D animated video interviewing residents from Galliagh, a townland in County Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Highlighting the issues their community face with the lack of resources and basic infrastructure.

Galliagh, the Parish of St Joseph's was first developed in the very early 1970's and quickly grew into a strong, proud and cohesive community with an ambition to see the local community take on new and much needed physical infrastructure projects to match an ever growing population. Little did they know that by 2025 this community would still have no local sports pitches or indoor halls. No dedicated youth facility. No business or community units to enable the opening of a GP practice, dental surgeries or to have space to have a community cafe or even a butchers, the things we have come to expect in any developed community, especially a community of approx 23,000 residents .
